Lworopiny-Kampala: Acholi Community In Kampala Asked to Offer Leadership

By Uma Patrick

Acholi people residing in and around Kampala have been called upon to offer leadership and guidance to the local Population back home in Northern Uganda
The call was made by Ambassador Olara-Otunnu, the Co-Chair of Roco-Paco Initiative on Oct 27, 2024 during a meeting held from Makerere University business school playground
According to Otunnu, the Acholi in Kampala are considered to be Educated and intelligent and as such should provide Leadership and guidance to the rest of the people in Acholi land. He further added that they should also teach and create awareness to the people in rural areas so that they know and understand their Origin. He encouraged the Acholi Community to seek God and allow Him to use them for the greater good.

Hon. Hilary Onek, the Minister for Relief and Disaster Preparedness similarly encouraged the people of Acholi to embrace hard work and Unity among themselves so that they can fight the rampant Poverty that is ravaging many parts of Northern Uganda

Cousel Francis Okello Abe, an Acholi who has lived both in the diaspora and Kampala said there is need to support Vulnerable Children from Poor households in Acholi so that they can get quality and competitive Education
The meeting also collected funds for “Dero Kwan”, an Initiative to support Education of Vulnerable Children in Acholi sub-region
Gurre Me Pongwongo is an initiative of Chief Justice, Alphonse Owiny-dollo and Ambassador Olara-Otunnu Olara-Otunnu and the first meeting was held on October 27, 2024
